Separation system
The low weight and the small size of the Munin satellite gives us the
opportunity to design a very simple yet reliable separation system. The
approach that we have choosen is based on the use of a steel wire to tie down
the satellite to the lanuncher interface plate. The line will pull down the
satellite at three points. The wire is tensioned by a spring. A small
pyro-guiliotine is used for cutting the steel wire. Three helical springs will
push Munin away from the launcher with a speed of 0.5-0.6 m/s and a maximum
tipoff rate of 10 deg/s when the wire is cut.
